LinksPlus services contain safe, curriculum-based web sites,
which have been selected by teachers and teacher librarians.
We aim to use the online environment to provide teachers
and students with relevant and up to date information that
will progress teaching and learning.
WebLinks for Teacher Librarians has grown from a monthly
magazine first produced in May 1997, to a large online database,
'WebLinks Online' containing thousands of carefully selected
and annotated web sites. These are organised under school
subject
headings
to allow resource discovery.
Our products are available with a single school wide site
licence.
The experience and knowledge gained by the company in the
production of Internet directories has led to the development
of LinksPlus MARC, which can be formatted to load into school
library catalogues. The software also allows the sites to
be updated when they change location.
A feature of the LinksPlus products is the Research service,
which is offered to teachers and librarians, who can request
topics to be researched. Appropriate Internet sites are sent
to the requester, and later put into the database to be used
in WebLinks and LinksPlus MARC.
The company has a commitment to the growth
of literacy and the development of a love
of literature in school students. It has
published books providing lists of book titles
to help teachers guide the reading for their
students.
The company is also committed to acknowledging
the contribution made by teacher librarians,
school librarians and school library staff
to the education of children. This has led
to the sponsorship of national awards such
as the Australian School Library Association
(ASLA) award, Teacher Librarian of the Year.
